【Course description】

Environmental science is a relatively new interdisciplinary approach to studying the environment and environmental issues, offering a unique perspective on the environment and our dependence on the Earth’s ecosystems.

The purpose of this course is to provide students with an opportunity to understand the broad framework of environmental science, to take a cross-sectional view of environmental issues from the established but simple to the multi-layered and dimensional, and to think comprehensively about the interaction between the natural environment and human society with a problem-solving mindset.
Based on the system concept, the meaning of ecosystem and interactions, material cycles, energy flows, and biodiversity will be studied with specific examples.
