Sophia University hosted three special events prior to the Visit of Pope Francis to Japan

Prior to the visit of Pope Francis to Japan, Sophia University hosted three special events to commemorate the Pontiff’s visit in 2019. It has been 38 years since Pope John Paul Ⅱ last visited Japan.
During his trip Pope Francis visited Sophia University and delivered a personal message in a special lecture at Sophia University on November 26, 2019.

Three special events below were organized to understand the meaning and the significance of Pope Francis’s work on global agenda, prior to his visit.

    Special Lecture “Geopolitics of Mercy of Pope Francis”, by Fr. Antonio Spadaro, S.J., Editor in Chief of the Jesuit Journal “La Civilta Cattolica”
  2. October 5, 2019, 13:00-16;00
    Special Symposium “Christianity and UN Peace Building: Actions of Pope Francis on South Sudan and Other Peace Building Efforts”
  3. November 22, 2019, 17:20-19:00
    Special Symposium “Christianity and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”
